Results of Westfield Day Nursery’s questionnaires Out of school Club We surveyed half of the children who attend the club. When asked what activities they like doing they said playing outside, doing arty things and being with their friends. They also enjoy playing on their new Wii and eating! All except one said there are none of the activities on offer that they don’t like. When the schoolies get to westfield on an evening they play outside before tea. When asked, they all said they like to play outside but 2 like to have the choice to stay inside. They thought of several things which would make playing out more enjoyable including a trampoline, a paddling pool, a basket ball net, a pet rabbit and, a mud pit! Most of the time they like their cooked teas but two do not like fruit salad and two do not like kidney beans. When asked if there is anything they do not like about westfield one said they don’t like it without grass and two said they don’t like it if little children get onto the football pitch. 3 & 4 year olds We surveyed over half of the older nursery aged children. Again when asked what they like doing at nursery the most popular responses were, art activities (including drawing, painting, gluing), and playing outside. Of the things they do not like doing at nursery only one does not like painting, one does not like playing in the water tray, one doesn’t like playing outside, one thinks computers are boring and one dislikes tidying up( yes, only one!) All except one like to play outside and 3 would like a play house to help make it even more fun. They all liked the food they have at meal times and when asked if there is anything they don’t like about nursery one said counting, one said reading stories, one said children not being nice to him, another said being told off, one said the gravel and one said bossy people! 2 year olds These are the youngest of our children and the most difficult to survey! The ones we surveyed said they liked to play with the cars, the dolls and like playing outside. There is nothing they don’t like, apparently! Parents. We are currently asking the nursery children's parents what they think of the service we provide also. Some interesting results are coming back to us. These will be disscussed with all staff at our next staff meeting and we will act upon what we have been told. Parents opinions are very important to us, if there is anything you want to tell us about our service, good and bad, don't wait to be asked, just jot it down on a piece of paper and pop it in the black 'Comments' box by the door into the nursery.
