Building defences Peace and quiet in the garden Staff at Westfield have been busy over the last few weeks. As well caring for the childrfen we have been decorating. We have been having a good sort out of toys and equipment, washing everything, moving furniture and generally sprucing the place up. Everywhere is looking clean and fresh and bright and is a much nicer space for the children to use. At long last Westfield has a new minibus! After almost 9 years 'Maureen', as she was affectionately known, had to go to the scrap yard. Our lovely silver, sleek replacement has been named 'Miles' by the children. He has air conditioning, a CD player, plush seats and carpeting as well as heated rear windows that actually work! Miles will soon be sign written so that when we are out and about you can give us a wave! Our latest additions to Westfield are Dotty and Tizzy the rabbits from the Maize Maze. Like everything else here they soon get used to the routine and the crazy things the children get up to! We have recently taken delivery of some new resources for our outdoor areas thanks to a grant from NYCC. We now have a lovely new seat under the apple tree where we can read stories, sit and have a rest and watch the world go by or, for some children, have a lie down. Our summer house is constantly changing and the recent additions of new soft furnishings, rugs and a pirate flag all add to it's wonder for the children. They love it! It is used constantly by them for all sorts of imaginary games as well as to rest in, read a story or make a picture.
